Susan Michele Coronel

Writer and Educator based in New York City

Susan Michele Coronel is the author of the full-length poetry collection In the Needle, A Woman, which was selected by Leah Huete de Maines as the Winner of the 2024 Donna Wolf-Palacio Prize. The book is forthcoming from Finishing Line Press in Summer, 2025. Pre-sales of the book begin in Spring, 2025.

Publications & Honors

Versions of Susan’s award-winning book In the Needle, A Woman were named finalists for Harbor Editions' Laureate Prize (2021), the 42 Miles Press Poetry Award (2023), the C&R Press Poetry Award (2023), and the Louise Bogan Award (2024). In 2023, Susan won the Massachusetts Poetry Festival’s First Poem Award. A two-time Pushcart nominee, Susan has had poems published in numerous journals including Amethyst Review, Anti-Heroin Chic, Common Ground Review, The Ekphrastic Review, Gyroscope Review, The Inflectionist Review, Minyan, Mom Egg Review, Newtown Literary, The Night Heron Barks, One Art, Passengers Journal, Redivider, Sheila Na Gig, and Spillway 29.  In 2022 she was one of eight featured poets in The Aeolian Harp Series. In 2021 and 2023, several of her poems were finalists for the Millennium Writing Awards and longlisted for the Sappho Prize.
